This is considered to be a suitable time for climbing. However, people still climb the mountain during lower season (rain season) from March to May.
MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK: Lying astride the main highway from Dar es Salaam through Morogoro, Iringa and Mbeya to Zambia, Mikumi National Park covers an area of 3,230 sq.km and is the third largest park in Tanzania. It was gazetted in 1964. It is the most accessible park from Dar es Salaam. The park lies in a horseshoe of towering mountains and forested foothills of Makata River. To the east, rises the 900 feet massif of Uluguru mountin ranges; while to the south-west are the craggy peaks of the Lumango Mountains.
The park is rich in wildlife and animals like buffaloes, lions, wildebeests, zebras, impalas, warthogs and elephants can easily be seen all the year round. Over 300 species of birds have been recorded, some of which are Eurasian migrants. Some reptiles such as crocodiles, monitor lizards and pythons are also residents in the park. Mikumi Wildlife Lodge and Mikumi Tented Camp offer good accommodation and food.
RUAHA NATIONAL PARK: Gazetted in 1964 with an area of 10,300 sq.km, Ruaha National Park is the second largest park in Tanzania. The park which lies in the central part of Tanzania just west of Iringa town is also the second largest elephant sanctuary in the country, next to Selous Game Reserve. The park derives its name from the Great Ruaha River which flows through the Rift valley in the eastern part of the park. There are about 1,650 plant species and over 370 bird species so far recorded. The area also contains a wide variety of animals that includes the Ruaha special - “Greater and Lesser Kudu, Roan and Sable entelopes”.
Other game animal found here are large herds of buffaloes and elephants. The exciting Great Ruaha River harbours/contains a large number of hippos and crocodiles. During the dry season, the river attracts great numbers of wildlife species; giraffes, warthogs, elands, zebras, wildebeests, impala, waterbucks, roan, antelopes and elands. In the plains, ostriches, cheetahs and grants gazelles can be seen. The park offers a paradise of outstanding natural world as it lies within a belt which interfaces species of FLORA and FAUNA of southern and northern Africa.
SELOUS GAME RESERVE: Established in 1922, Selous Game Reserve is named in honor of Captain Frederick Courtney Selous (1852-1917) who had been a famous elephant hunter. The area covering approximately 55,000 sq.km is the largest reserve devoted to wildlife preservation in Africa. It is one of the remaining untamed areas in Africa with pristine habitat that has just begun to receive international recognition. The reserve is also one of Africa‘s last true untouched wilderness area with a spectacular variety of Flora and Fauna.
It contains some of Africa's largest and most important population of elephants, buffaloes and hunting dogs. Other large mammals that are found there include Roosevelt's sable (rarely seen), rhinos, hippos, giraffes, elands, sable antelopes, white faced wildebeest, waterbucks, warthogs, leopards and lions (which are darker in colour than their coousins in the northern circuits). The selous male lions also have short, almost punk-like manes, very different from other lions in Africa. Selous Game Reserve is also famous for the Rufiji river system which drains through it and the numerous lakes which offer unique opportunities to take boat safaris.
Accommodation facilities in the reserve are excellent Visitors/tourists to the Selous can be accommodated in any one of the following camps; Rufuji River camp in noth-eastern part, just inside the reserve, Mbuyu, Safari Camp located near the channel connecting lakes Nzerakera and Manze, Selous Safari Camp which is built high up on the Beho Beho ridge and the Sitiegler's Gorge camp. Selous Game Reserve is 490 km. south-west of Dar es salaamu and it takes about 40 minutes to fly to the reserve from Dar es Salaamu or 4 hours by TAZARA.

Normal formalities of registration and payment and then start trekking through the Kilimanjaro rain forests. Please choose the route you like among these once Marangu, Machame, Umbwe, Lemosho and Shira. Then you can just include the days for climbing the mountain and for safaris. E.g. If it is Machame route which takes us 7 Days then see when we will go to Safari.
